Lisa Ernst has lived in Western China for several years. She especially loves conducting fieldwork, which she carried out in Urumchi in 2015/2016 and 2018.

Lisa is based in Berlin, where she explores the different facets of gender and womanhood among Han Chinese and Uyghurs living abroad.

Apart from her research, Lisa is passionate about Chinese visual arts.. 活着 (To Live) is her all time favorite film.
